It’s summer time! Well, it’s always usually summer time in Southern California. Anyways, it’s HOT HOT, so you better take advantage of it. It’s 85 degrees with little breeze, and what do you want to do? Go to the beach! Well, beside that, here are 5 other things you should do this summer.
deep sea fishing
Summer is prime time for fishing! There are plenty of fish in the sea right now. From Yellowtail and White Sea Bass to Barracuda and even giant Tuna, these fish are out and about in the Southern California water. There are many companies that offer daily departure in LA and Orange County. I went deep sea fishing once with Davey’s Locker in Newport Beach, and I had a great experience with them.

wake boarding
Similarly to regular surfing, wake boarding is a popular water sport especially in San Diego. It is usually done on a lake or ocean marina. You’re basically holding on to a rope that is tied to the back of a boat that drags you creating artificial wave where you can surf on continuously until you fall. It takes time and practice and it is quite an expensive sport to get into. However, you don’t necessary need a fancy boat or any equipment to get into this sport. There is a cable park at Big Bear Lake where it is a lot cheaper to try out wake boarding; the place is called Designated Wakesports. I’ve never been here, so I can’t tell you if it’s good or not.

go to the beach at night
It’s summer time, and everyone goes to the beach… like EVERYONE! Parking is hard to find, it’s really crowded, and it’s just frustrating to have thousands of loud children running around you. Luckily, it’s warm enough at night for you to hit up the beach after hour. My favorite time to go to the beach at night is at 2am, and Newport Beach is my go to beach. There’s a 24/7 bakery called Seaside Bakery with kick ass smoothie and donuts serving drunk kids and late night adventurers.
Still in doubt? read my 5 reasons why you should go to the beach at night

take a hike along the beach
Southern California’s coast stretches over a hundred mile and there are dozens and dozens of trails covering hundreds of miles that will give you spectacular views from above. You can take a hike in the Laguna Wilderness, Crystal Cove State Park, Santa Monica Mountain, Malibu Creek State Park, and many other parks to enjoy the summer sun and the ocean breeze.

go to the park
Did you know the Balboa Park in San Diego is the largest urban park in the entire country? Also, Griffith Park in Los Angeles is the second largest! So the biggest urban parks in the country are both located in Southern California. Now, it’s time to go explore! Griffith Park offers you a wide range of activities from a huge lawn to picnic on, numerous hiking trails like the famous Hollywood Sign, and an abandoned old zoo as well as the LA zoo.
Balboa Park has over a dozen world class museums from natural history to spaceships, great restaurants, hiking trails, and beautiful architecture. Balboa Park is not to be missed by anyone.
It’s summer time. Why don’t you go buy a watermelon and have a delicious feast on a beautiful lawn?

Fishing? Hmmm haha
Maybe I’ll just go to Titos tacos :p
hahaha! but catching your own tilapia and making your own tacos are way more fun!
All great ideas!

I’ve been enjoying the home area so far. We like to vacation off-peak in spring and fall.
