Climbing In Joshua Tree – Altantis

In addition to joshua trees, great hikes, historic point of interests, and the warm sun, Joshua Tree National Park is largely known for being one of the world’s premiere rock climbing destination. Located just 2 hours drive from Los Angeles, JTNP has been the birth place of many famous rock climbers and is still a famous destination for local climbers. If you live in Southern California and is a rock climber, climbing in Joshua Tree has to be on the top of your list.

Due to the fact that this is a national park and the nature of rocks here allow room for traditional gear protection such as cams and nuts, top rope anchor bolts and sport routes are not abundant here. To fully enjoy a day of climbing in Joshua Tree, i highly recommend coming with an experience trad climbers.

We spent the entire day at the Atlantis Wall which is just a few miles into the park.

Here’s the GPS coordinates: 34.01881,-116.18001

Me filming one of the climbers. Playing National Geographic photographer.
